Adoption Support
World Families Australia provides adoption support in the following ways:
National relationships
- Chairing the South Australian Adoption Support Groups and Services , which meets four times a year to share ideas, discusses and provides feedback on national and state issues that affect the Intercountry adoption community and plans social functions for adoptive families and children.
- Representation, through Helen Edwards, on the National Intercountry Adoption Advisory Group, established by the Australian Government Attorney General. If you have any issues you would like to raise, contact Helen.
Social Functions Coordination
- Coordinate a Barmera camp, usually run over the Christmas holidays for adoptive families. The camp has been running for twenty years and is a great social event and support network for both, children, young people and parents.
- Arrange coffee mornings held on the first Wednesday of each month at a member's home. They provide a great opportunity for parents to have a chat and support one another.
- Arrange two family picnics each year, around May and November
Newsletters Distribution.
- Adoption Australia newsletter is distributed quarterly and includes the WFA Adoption Support Newsletter. To contribute to the WFA newsletter, please contact Helen Edwards via the contact details below.
